May all who hate Jerusalem
be turned back in shameful defeat.
May they be as useless as grass on a rooftop,
turning yellow when only half grown,
ignored by the harvester,
despised by the binder.
And may those who pass by
refuse to give them this blessing:
“The Lord bless you;
we bless you in the Lord’s name.”
| Encouragement for Today |
| The psalmist fully expresses his strong feelings of revenge to God, but he leaves it up to God to deal with his enemies. As children of God, we can feel our emotions completely. We don’t have to stuff them and pretend they do not exist. God knows our frame. We can express every emotion to God, no matter how strong. The key is to let God handle the situation. Too often we try the reverse: We ignore our emotions and try to handle the situation! Let God know what you’re feeling and then leave the matter in his hands. |
