water is ve
ry important, we all know that. we could use it for therapy for some diseases. if we want to lose weight, we drink lots of water and it helps detoxify the fats in our system. water hydrates the skin too. there are just too many benefits of water. one thing i discovered is that the water that you rinse the rice with can be used for gardening. just use the rice water to water the plants and see your plants become greener and healthier.

don’t push your goals and dreams onto your children. encourage them to develop their own dreams. their future is what they make of it, not ours. we can just encourage them. we cannot push them. they have their own destiny and sometimes, we don’t realize that we want them to be like us.

I have blogged about how to create a family keepsake. It’s because it is important to preserve those memories you have with children. We always think that we won’t forget the things we did and how and why and what happened on that day but in reality, we won’t. There are just too many happenings that some of them we will forget… unless we capture every moment of it. Like what I have said, having a camera or digital camera can be useful in capturing the moments. I talked about digital scrapbooking and a few more. And of course, we need a place to post them, right? So what do we need? It’s either we:
- create a blog. Not only can you post your videos, photos or digital scrap, you can also write what happened at the moment. Some blogs are for free. But when you want your own custom domain, you need to pay. But it’s not much. You can have a custom domain from wordpress at 15$ per year and at Blogger for 10$ per year. Both have different features. So it’s up to you to decide which one you want to use.
- if you can afford it, have your own website.
Then if you want to share your moments with family and friends, you can just give them the link. There’s nothing like preserving memories. Memories that last. Memories that would bring the family back together again.

Hug your children and be physically affectionate with them.
Especially for girls, receiving affection at home will make them less likely to seek it elsewhere.
Boys do need hugs too. So don’t forget to give him that much needed hugs.
Everyday.

don’t hesitate to unexpectedly drop in on or check up on your children. it provides an additional incentive for them to make good choices, and it shows that you care.
one time, when i went to schenker’s school to send him his swimming trunk (i forgot to put it in his bag), i saw how his face lit up when he saw me coming in! it’s priceless.

i can’t wait to do this with my family: choose at least one night out of the month
and make dinner
something special.
i love doing fine dining.
and dressing up.
so it would be good to get out the good china and dress up a little bit.
i know that if we start this tradition, my kids would look forward to these refined evening events.

be a letter writer and encourage your children to write them, as well. letters are a wonderful way to communicate and appreciated gesture. they also make a great keepsakes. I created two separate blogs for my two kids (one for each). there, i write my thoughts about them on that period of time. that way when they group up, they will be able to read and know the love i have for them even when they were still young. i think it would make a difference to them, boosting their self esteem and a sense of well-being. there’s nothing like feeling loved by the closest people you have in your life.

encourage creativity by exposing your children to music, dance, the arts, and other activities that help themto develop their imaginations. specific activities include:
- playgroup – the best exposure for toddlers/kids is by joining playgroups
- piano or music lessons – can start a 4-year old child for music lessons with a group. this may be a bit expensive but it’s worth the investment because music enhances logic.
- art class
- dance class
- sunday school class – exposes children to other kids, listens to stories which triggers imagination and get to know God above all else.

when bringing a new baby home, prepare small gifts for the sibling/s. presents will be flowing freely for the new addition, and this will keep others from being left out. i tried this for my so when my newborn daughter came. i knew then that he felt so loved and cared for even we had a new baby at home.
