Job’s Attitude
July 18, 2009
“[Job] said, ‘I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!’ In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.” —Job 1:21–22
God allowed Satan to take everything away from Job: his family (except for his wife), his home, his possessions. Yet Job praised God. He apparently realized all along, even when he was wealthy, that everything comes from God and God had the ability and right to take away his blessings. Could this be the reason God entrusted him with such wealth both before and after his testing? Many seek to be rich; few have Job’s attitude. What is your true heart’s attitude toward what you have? You’ll know by how you respond when you lose it.
