The Art of Pottery

pottery-smallI just blogged about how fascinating it is to watch somebody doing pottery. I think doing it requires a master’s touch. Or a touch of an art. The good thing with it is that if you’re not satisfied with what you did, you can actually break it and mold it again.

And break again and mold it again until the form satisfies you.

The thing with pottery is that you have to be very careful with what kind of equipment you are using. A lot of equipment or materials could be hazardous to health. So it is advisable to use lead-free glazes or free from toxic substances. Amaco does non-toxic glazes.

In pottery, it is also important that you use the right amount of temperature. And of course, Amaco does different kinds of glazes that would include low fire glazes between Cone 04 and 06.

And if you’re not so sure with the safety, you may check out their product encyclopedia/safety information which is designed for both artists and educators. It covers general guidelines for participating in ceramic activities safely as well as in-depth product information on all Amaco ceramic and non-ceramic products.
