Khabi Kushi Khabi Gham

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I love Hindi movies. I have a few films I love but my favorite is Khabi Kushi Khabi Gham. It’s a great story of a family that was divided due to the son’s choice of a wife but late reconnected because of his younger brother’s doing. It’s a four-hour movie and I just rolled the 4-hour movie into a one sentence. LOL. But the essence of the story is there. There, I have learned some Indian traditions, customs, costumes (that’s when my love of wearing a sari started), and cultures. I first saw the movie in 2003. I keep showing that movie to our guests. And each time, I would sit by our guests and watch it with them as if it’s my first time watching it. LOL.

I’m not going to really delve into the story. Just want to show you what fascinated me. Yes, the car with the lambo doors! By now, you know I am crazy about cars, yeah? LOL. Anyway… that’s the first time I saw this car with the vertical door. I was impressed, of course. Who wouldn’t?

Being Kind

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

“Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
The LORD rescues them when they are in trouble.
The LORD protects them
and keeps them alive.
He gives them prosperity in the land
and rescues them from their enemies.
The LORD nurses them when they are sick
and restores them to health.”

—Psalm 41:1–3

Encouragement for Today

Being kind to the poor brings protection, prosperity, even renewed health. God cares intensely about the poor and is very pleased when we share his heart in this way. How can you be kind to the poor today? Do you know anyone who needs a bag of groceries, a small gift they can’t afford for themselves, or even relief from child care for a few hours? Do you sponsor a child in through a relief organization? Ask God to show you how you can extend his kindness to the poor today.

Website Re-Design

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

My father came with the intent of asking me to do a house plan. Apparently, they want to build a new home for himself and my mom in his own home town. They have been living in the city and just wanted to settle down in a quiet suburb. But I kind of forget how to do house plans.

But with the possibility of finding any thing online now, I was hoping to find a website that would guide you to do home plans. And not true enough, I found a website called houseplansandmore.com that would help you design your own home, even that of a luxury dream home plans. It is, indeed not impossible to be able to do it online. You just key in your details and they will give you a few results you could choose from.

It’s quite exciting. I will try and see whether my father would like to do any of these.

He’s in Control

Friday, August 21st, 2009

I have been so anxious lately. There is one thing that I have desired to do and seems like I’m heading towards that direction. But I feel so anxious. Worried that this might not what God wants me to do. But today’s encouraging words has indeed encouraged me.

“But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
I have not departed from his commands,
but have treasured his words more than daily food.
But once he has made his decision, who can change his mind?
Whatever he wants to do, he does.
So he will do to me whatever he has planned.
He controls my destiny.”

—Job 23:10–14

Encouragement for Today

Job affirms his faith in God’s sovereign control. Job may not like what’s happening to him or understand it, but he has faith that God is behind it all, that God is allowing him to go through his difficulties for a purpose. Job also knows his own heart and knows that he has been faithful to follow God as well as he was able. So now all he can do is submit to God’s work and trust in God’s power and sovereign control.

Writing Reflections

Friday, August 21st, 2009

I love doing reflections. I reflect every time I have a chance to do so. I would so love to write everything I reflect but the moment I turn on my computer, I would have some other things in mind to write. Apparently, my sister does the same thing. She would reflect on everything she does. Sometimes, when she washes dishes, she confessed that she would reflect on life relating to washing dishes. Funny hey? Anyways, it is always good to write our thoughts. It does improve our writing skills. This applies especially when you are in college and you need to write a lot of thesis.

But with everything available online nowadays, sometimes we don’t have to think hard on writing our theses. We just hire people to do it for us, especially when our plates are full and we are meeting deadlines. Apparently, there is annotated bibliography for websites too for those who are needing this kind of research.

Like I said, with any thing available online nowadays, life can be more convenient.
