A Gift from God

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

“Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! . . . Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.”

Ecclesiastes 5:10, 18–20

encouragement for today

Loving money—pursuing wealth for its own sake—does not bring satisfaction. However, receiving wealth from God as a result of doing work we enjoy and are good at does bring joy and peace. Wealth from God is a by-product of right living. The key difference: what is your motivation? If it’s to become wealthy, you’ll never have enough. If it’s to use your God-given gifts, you’ll feel contentment and enjoyment. As always, it comes down to a heart issue—in this case, whether you love God or money.

Hard Work

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I know that finding cheap term insurance is a hard work, considering that every thing is so expensive nowadays. And coupled it with economic recession, it makes it even harder to find cheap ones. But actually, if you really look further, you can find cheap ones. You just need to persevere and persist. With internet search engines nowadays, it won’t be hard to find things… cheap things online.

Enjoy your Life

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

“Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.”

Ecclesiastes 11:9–10

encouragement for today

There’s a recipe for positive living here: Enjoy what you have in the moment. Focus on what you have, not on what you don’t have or what could go wrong. While you are young, enjoy your youth and take care of your body. But as you enjoy whatever you’ve been given, don’t focus on the thing itself and expect it to last forever. Only God lasts forever. Ultimate meaning can never be found in anything we possess, such as youth or health. Ultimate meaning is only found in that which does not change.

My Garden

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I have started my garden at the back of my house. I actually asked my father when they were here to make me a garden. My father has green thumb. Everything he plants would surely grow and bloom. And he likes gardening as well. He really enjoys it. I, on the other hand, loves gardening too… only if I don’t spend so much time working online. I would have grown a beautiful garden by now. But since I procrastinated so much, it took me long to be motivated to do up the garden that my father has started.

Anyways, when I go back from my London trip, I need to really do it up. I have bought some vegetable seeds already. And speaking of gardening, shopwiki offers garden hoses. I definitely need to find a garden hose. At shopwiki, you can find shops that sell home and garden stuff like trimmers, fertilizers, seeds, garden accents, etc. They have a list of shops that sell all these and they will tell you which shop sells the cheapest and the best quality.

hopWiki is revolutionary for shopping since it actively seeks out every store on the internet in a similar way that Google finds every web site, by crawling the web. Traditional shopping sites will only show you stores that have paid for placement, and ShopWiki will give a shopper everything regardless if we can earn anything.

Too Much

“Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.”

Ecclesiastes 5:3

encouragement for today

What an interesting verse for our times! How many of us are involved in too much activity and inundated with too many messages (some say it’s in the thousands)? How do all this activity and all these messages crowd out what’s really important—relationships with God and others and even yourself? What can you do to stem the tide of “too much activity” and “too many words”? Unplug the computer and schedule in some “down time”—or don’t even look at the schedule for a day. Try going through a day speaking as few words as possible—only the words that will truly matter. You’ll be wiser and sleep better for it!
