Master’s Care

“Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth!
This is what the LORD says:
‘The children I raised and cared for
have rebelled against me.
Even an ox knows its owner,
and a donkey recognizes its master’s care—
but Israel doesn’t know its master.’”

Isaiah 1:2–3

encouragement for today

Listen to the parental grief in these verses. God longs to care for us and to have us love him back. He loves us! He yearns for a relationship of joy and trust. Is this your image of God? If not, let these words, and especially the emotion behind them, sink into your heart. God loves you!

Ready for Another Vacation?

The kids are going to have a school vacation next week. In Malaysia, schools usually end at the end of the year and the school year starts in January. In the Philippines, the school year ends in March and some in April and the school year starts in June. So we have different school vacays. This time, in my kids’ school, they extended the school days because they wanna cover those days that were off because of holidays. There are just so many holidays in Malaysia, I can’t really count all of them.

Anyways, like I said, the kids’ school ends next week. I am thinking whether we could go for florida vacations. I heard Florida in the US has the best Disneyland ever. Of course, with our current situation, we can’t do that. I was just day dreaming. Maybe I could start saving now so we can do it in the future. Hmmm… it usually starts with a dream. So yes, I will keep on dreaming.

Our Hearts

“‘Do I eat the meat of bulls?
Do I drink the blood of goats?
Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God,
and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
Then call on me when you are in trouble,
and I will rescue you,
and you will give me glory.
But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.
If you keep to my path,
I will reveal to you the salvation of God.’”

Psalm 50:13–15, 23

encouragement for today

What does God want from us? Does he want our religious activity? No, he wants our hearts. He wants our gratitude, our faithfulness, our obedience, and our trust. He wants nothing less than everything we are and have. When we honor him from our hearts, what can we count on? Rescue in the time of trouble, and nothing less than salvation. To what end? The glory of God.

House Cleaning Galore

I have been house cleaning since I came back from London. Our house got a bit dusty and my husband has been sneezing. I knew then that it’s time for party… errr… house cleaning. Yeah, my husband is allergic to dust. And if he’s under allergies, blame me for not cleaning the house. LOL. Anyways, I was so challenged when one of my neighbors told me she mopped the house 5 times a day. Wow! 5 times a day is a lot of work. And please don’t tell others. I mop the house a few times a week only, vacuum one time per week. LOL. It’s a waste of electricity if I vacuum the floor once a day, right? there goes the excuse. Anyways, my favorite place to clean is the kitchen. Not that it’s always sqeaky clean. It’s not. It’s hard to maintain. We don’t have one of those copper sinks that has been trendy of late… but I am satisfied with our stainless steel sink. It’s easy to clean up. Now about my garden…

What is it?

I have been reading about getting an online backup but seriously, I have no idea why. Does it mean that you put your files online and have it backed up there? That would be lovely if I can access my files online any where I go. On the other hand, is it safe? I mean people can just go over your online data and hack it, right? If it’s stored in your comp, there’s less risk in having people hacking it. Well, obviously, I’m not tech-savvy enough to understand how it works.

Wait Weight

Ewwwww… Weight… wait!!! Stop! Don’t come back to me yet. I don’t nee you, especially now or ever. I am acting as if weight can stop just like that. LOL. I have been having a good appetite these days. Is it because of lack of sleep? I don’t know. All I know is that I need appetite suppressant. Wait do I really want it? I promise to start exercising tomorrow. Yes, I will.

Happiness and Pleasure

I subscribe to one of facebook’s apps about “Today God wants you to know…” and today’s message was a real hit: God wants me to know that happiness has nothing to do with pleasure…

You feel pleasure when you want something and you get it. Or when you don’t want something and you remove it. Pleasure is always relative. Happiness is absolute. Happiness is the understanding and acceptance of life as it is in this very moment as completely perfect, because every creation of God is perfect. The degree to which you do not accept life in all of the Divine forms is the degree to which you suffer.

Poor But Abundant

“They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity. For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do.”

2 Corinthians 8:2–3, 5

encouragement for today

Paul was writing about the church in Macedonia. The Macedonians gave beyond their means, but that attitude was grounded in a prior action: They dedicated themselves to the Lord and to whatever Paul instructed them to do. This open willingness to do whatever God wanted was the secret of their joy and their generosity. How might you emulate them in your own giving?

Gold Coins

Gold coinsIf you talk about investments, there are a few things that would come to mind. Some would invest in gold. Others would invest in stock market. There are properties too. But not all properties can be a good investment. For example, it would be good to invest in a house but not in a car. The value of a house would appreciate while the value of a car would depreciate. Lands would be a good investment too.

I think among all these few investments I just mentioned, gold has a very good value. It sure won’t depreciate But will grow its value over the years. Gold made into gold coins have become the number 1 when it comes to investment. You can actually buy gold coins and place them in IRA’s.

There are websites that could give you a gold guide if you’re planning on investing gold. With the economic development uncertainties nowadays, one can’t help but use gold as their primary investment.

Planting Seeds

“Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.”

Ecclesiastes 11:6

encouragement for today

Again, here is practical advice for being productive. In the end, we don’t know exactly what will produce results. Many jobs require investments of time and energy with no guarantee of results. Sales people must contact many people to get sales; teachers plant many “seeds” of knowledge and never know what will “take” in a student. We have to keep planting and keep doing what is required. Profit will come, if we’ve “planted enough seed.”
