Fear the Lord

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

“Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin.
By fearing the LORD, people avoid evil.”

Proverbs 16:6

encouragement for today

Whose unfailing love and faithfulness atone for whose sin? God’s own character covers our sin, ultimately. But perhaps this works on a human plane, too. If the overarching tenor of your family is love and faithfulness, that can cover when you blow it with your spouse, children, parents, siblings. The same goes in friendship. Let love and faithfulness be the defining features of your relationships (as you’re grounded in a relationship with God—”fearing the LORD”), and the first benefit is that many sins can be avoided. Second, even when sin does get the upper hand, the relationship can remain intact.

Card Making

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The kids and I made some cards before Christmas. Both of them were excited to do so. Schenker made his own design. He drew some Christmas trees. I had to draw for Samantha for her to color. She loves to color.dec24-09 041dec24-09 037

It’s their first time making Christmas cards and both of them kept saying it was fun. It was fun, Mommy. Of course, the mother’s heart in me leaped for joy seeing them having fun and making Christmas memories.

Kids grow up fast. The next thing we know, they’d be making their own Wedding cards, communion invitation, Baby announcements, etc. Ha! I’m thinking quite advanced. I shouldn’t. I should just enjoy these moments of memory making.

3rd Day

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I have been here for 3 days now but I haven’t called my sister in hawaii yet. I’m sure she’s now waiting for my call. But I can’t seem to find her number. I have some numbers with me to call. I tried calling them yesterday but it’s either there was no one to answer or it goes straight to a voice mail. Anyways… will have to make another round of calls later. I really need to make that calls.

Eating in America

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

We have a lovely host. We’re sure blessed to be staying with her in her place here in Alpharetta. She made us shrimp scampi on our first night here. She took us to 5 Seasons Restaurant on our second night. I had a German food that came along with beer cheese soup. Last night she made us lobsters (huge ones) and clams for dinner. Wow. She’s really amazing. We wanted to contribute for our food because it’s already embarrassing that she has to spend so much just for us. But she politely declined. We are so blessed.

There’s no way to diet here. I will probably have to wait until we go back to Malaysia to diet again. And probably look for best weight loss supplement. I’m pretty sure I have gained so much with what we eat here. I don’t really mind. It’s good to be on diet break once in a while.

Driving on the ‘Wrong’ Side of the Road

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Our host lent us a car to use while on holiday here in Atlanta. It’s great to have a car so we could move around. But the thing is… we used to drive on the left side of the road in Malaysia. The driver sits on the right side. It’s a British system. In America, it’s the other way around. You drive on the right side of the road, on the left side of the car.

Since my hubby is used to driving on the right side of the car, I got so nervous everytime we’re on the road. But he made it. I am so proud of him.

One thing I noticed is that there’s not a lot of motorcycle here. I think if you’re a motorcycle accident attorney, you won’t survive in this area.

You would, though in Thailand. There’s a lot of motorcycles there. Every family has at least one. So you can imagine the number of motorists there.

Anyways… American drivers drive properly… that’s my only consolation. I pray that we will be safe on the road for the whole period of our journey while here in Atlanta.
