My HTC

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

The husband fixed his HP cellphone and gave me back my HTC. If you remember I posted something about my friend giving me her old htc. I took it and gave to hubby when something happened to his HP cellphone. Well, I don’t use phone much… but I find it convenient to check my facebook when I’m not at home and I’m somewhere else, having dinner or going to malls with my family. I didn’t need any of those cell phone cases because when my friend gave it to me, it came with one.

Just recently, I overcharged it. :( And you know what would happen, right. The battery died. And because of that, it affected the mother board. To have the motherboard fixed would cost something like RM500. That’s almost $200.00. Sigh. I had a cellphone for barely a month. Now it’s in the corner, screaming to be thrown into the junk.

Bye HTC. :(

Sentimental Value

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

While in college studying for my Chartered Accountancy exams, ACCA (UK), we had to buy lots of really thick textbooks which was expensive coz we had to pay them in British Pounds, plus the books were all printed in the UK. AND everytime we complete a subject, we would have trouble selling our textbooks coz’ every year a new accounting standard is introduced, or a new tax amendment is made, or a new topic is introduced and so , our textbooks became obsolete and we couldn’t sell them, these books eventually made it to our home library collecting dust ;) hahah!

I wonder who would be willing to sell textbooks for us? If we were to pile them up, they would be as tall as the tree. In fact, I am actually using some my old textbooks as a base support for our King size bed. Since these books have so much of sentimental values (so much sweat and blood, and tears too), I don’t mind keeping those books 

Glee

gleeAside from Gossip Girl, I also watch Glee with my friends. This series for me is more realistic and relatable since it talks about losers in high schools, the cool kids and the normal beings. The songs they sing are also rendered beautifully and the cast portrayed their roles convincingly. I like the character of Kurt. He’s gay and adorable. He loves to wear Marc Jacobs and pink ties to school. And he is very true to himself and to other people. There’s nothing pretentious about him at all because he says whatever he wants to say and do the things he wants to do.

In a way, I want to be like him. Not to be scared of what people might say or scared of taking risks. To be able to stand up to the things I believe in and to fight for everything worth fighting. But it takes more than a TV show to change to a better person. Every character in TV or in the movies has something that makes them likable to the audience. I think that is Glee’s charm, the characters are far from perfect and we can easily hate and love them.

Gossip Girl

GOSSIP GIRLI love watching the season 1 of Gossip Girl because of the drama and Chase Crawford. The characters in Gossip Girl have problems like relationships, trust funds, what ivy college to go to, the cliques they belong, and other shallower issues. Well, shallow for me because they do not have to see and deal with poverty, malnutrition and discrimination. Anyways, there is this character named Blair who has everything: money, parents who adore her, a boyfriend who loves her and a clique who worships her. But it seems that these are not enough for her because she goes on subtly destroying the lives of other people. She is also obsessed with her weight and is bulimic. I would recommend she look for the best price for apidexin which is said to be the “world’s strongest fat burner”. But I don’t need to since she is not real and she can well afford any price.

The thing is, even though I think that they are all shallow and selfish I still watch the series because I am curious and captivated by their ways of living in the Upper East Side.
