Dish Washing – Who Likes this Job?

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I dislike dish washing so much. Back when I was young, I used to grunt a lot when I was asked to wash dishes. But it didn’t leave me any choice when my mother assigned a dish-washing job every after dinner. And also, back when I was in primary school, we used to take lunch boxes with us because the school was very far. We had to pack our lunch everyday.

And so when we came home, it was my job to wash the lunch boxes. It was awful. I really hated the smell. I guess that born my dislike to washing dishes.

And brining in the culture now. Sometimes, I wash dishes once in a day, after dinner. I dislike the fact that the dishes stay for along time on my sink… but I am also too lazy to wash dishes after every meal.

Would it help if I have one of those Blanco sinks? LOL. Maybe I should just buy a dish washer? Really, I have been toying with the idea of getting one. My husband told me I can easily afford it. But for now, saving money just for dishwasher is not on top of my priority.

But the good news is… I am now starting to train Samantha on washing the dishes. Good gracious me! LOL. I hope she’d like to wash dishes. I commend those people who do.

Chinese New Year and Mandarin Oranges

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

I love it when it’s Chinese New Year in Malaysia. Not only the kids can have school holidays, I can eat Mandarin oranges as much as I want to. You see, Mandarin orange is seasonal. They’re only available during Chinese New Year season. That’s why, I always look forward to CNY because of mandarin oranges. They are my favorite oranges ever.

Our neighbor gave us a box full of oranges the other day. And I was full of glee. Yey!

Another thing to watch out for Chinese New Year is Yee Sang where the family and friends stand around the table, mixing the dish called Yee Sang. They say it’s for good luck. But what do I know about Chinese New Year belief?

All I know is that there is food served. You can just throw in your empty dishes on kitchen sinks, chit chat with hosts, and if you have kids, expect them to get Ang Pows. LOL.

Ang pows are red envelope that would have money inside given to the younger ones by the older ones. Although we’re not Chinese, when we visit the house of Chinese people, our kids get to have that red envelope called Ang Pow.

Gong Xi Fa Choi, everyone!

Alfa Romeo Spider – Elegance in Convertibles

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Yup. I do have an affinity for cars. But like I said in my previous post, I don’t drive. Not that I can’t. I just don’t have enough confidence to drive in Malaysia.

And so what about this Alfa Romeo Spider?

I just found out it’s the flagship and one of the most expensive convertibles for Alfa Romeo GT.

They derived the design of the body from the Alfa Romeo Brera, sans the roof.

It’s not as practical as other cars. But then again, elegance is the name of the game here.

Alfa Romeo GT Cloverleaf

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Do you ever wonder why Alfa Romeo GT’s symbol is a clover leaf?

It started when the driver, Udo Sevocci found a 4 leaf clover by the roadside. He apparently convinced his team to pain a clover leaf on the body of the Alfa Romeo car, hoping to have luck so he could win the 1923 Targa Florio in Sicily. Apparently, he won the race. It was Alfa Romeo’s major victory in an international car race competition.

They have used the clover leaf as the symbol of Alfa Romeo car ever since.

Just a car fact.

Why am I talking about cars all of a sudden?

My husband.

He wants me to practice driving. I am still on resistant stage. But it would be cool to have a car with one of those MP3 players attached, wouldn’t it? LOL. I know eventually, I’d be heading towards that direction – the driving part. And since I love cars (not driving), I thought it would be cool to know which cars would suit me. – Not that I can afford to buy for now. Let alone Alfa Romeo GT Cloverleaf. :D

Simple Thoughts about Simple Things

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

Whoever invented these carts, he deserves to be called a hero.
Why? Simply because these carts give us our life’s simple convenience oftentimes unnoticed because we have been used to them around us almost all the time.

In the grocery store, we find them neatly piled at the corner waiting for us to grab them for our monthly supply of goods. Imagine yourself carrying back and forth all those you picked from the shelves when they are nowhere at your sight. These grocery carts have become joy ride tools around while doing the shopping at the same time.

In the hospitals, these medical carts are but necessity. Imagine a sickly man having to drag himself to his hospital room or a woman who is about to deliver a baby having to run to the delivery room because these equipments are not around.

Simple thoughts about simple things like a cart… but come to think again…would life be still the same without them?
