A Need to Protect

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

A river serves as a channel for transportation, provides food and water, acts as home to floras and faunas, and supplies electricity. These are just some of the functions of a river, there are still other uses of this body of water that we do not know or are not directly related to people. There are rivers that are already polluted and there are those that are left virtually untouched. The latter can rarely be found now, these are the kinds of rivers where we can drink water directly from it or where we could take a bath or simply enjoy the view and the rainforest surrounding it.

There are still places where rivers are their major source of drinking water, some use water softener to reduce the minerals in it. But because of pollution, some live without experiencing drinking water in its freshest form. This is the reason why we have to protect our rivers and all other bodies water. We do not only protect for ourselves but also for others because we have the intergenerational responsibility to take care of what is borrowed.

Three in One

Pearl Harbor is one of my most favorite movies and books; it is simply timeless. The story tells us of three different kinds of love: a romantic love between people in love, the love between best friends and the love of the citizens for their country.

It was love at first sight for Ev and Rafe. Wearing medical uniforms and armed with an injection and Rafe’s fil, Ev can’t help but fall in love with the dyslexic man who lives to fly. For Rafe and Danny, they were brothers in all aspects except in blood and fought each other’s battle together. The sacrifice that they and hundred more men and women in the country did showed their love for their nation. A crisis destroyed and killed and that crisis brought them together and made them stronger.
