One of the coolest new things to happen in lighting technology in these past few years has been LED bulbs. These amazing
little lights first came out on to the market in the early 1960s and slowly have began to take over the entire lighting industry. They are not just being used in new and exciting ways, but also to replace traditional incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs.
To begin with, LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are made without a filament, making it super durable and giving it the ability to be used in ways and in places that normal standard light bulbs would never have been able to before.
Now that manufacturing costs have come down you are able to see replacement LED bulbs and adapters in nearly any household light. They can be found in interior and exterior lights, traditional vehicle lighting, under the cabinet lighting, and even adding a ghostly glow to sleek looking cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
Not only are these lights beautiful and hold incredible potential, they are also extremely energy efficient and long lasting. The standard incandescent bulb can last up to 750 hours, where as the LED light can have a life span as long as 100,000 hours. In comparison to how much power it takes to use one over the other, the traditional 20 watt incandescent bulb will generate enough light to read by. In contrast a group of LEDs that can produce the same amount of readable light will only need 1.5 watts.
When you consider the fact that LED bulbs cost less to produce, they are more flexible in what they can be used for, they are longer lasting, and they consume less energy, LED bulbs are the perfect replacement bulb.
Regardless if you are looking to simply replace your standard household lighting for a more efficient solution, if you are looking to add some exotic glow to your sports car, or if you simply want a safer and more elegant look for your Christmas tree, LED bulbs are paving a way into the future and show no sign of slowing down.
