Pure Motives

Monday, January 10th, 2011

“At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”

John 16:23–24

We Christians enjoy direct access to the Father through Jesus. We can ask for anything, and we’ll receive it, and we’ll have abundant joy. What an amazing way to live! Are you living it? Do you feel connected enough to God to know what you can confidently ask for? What kinds of things are you asking for, and why? If you can honestly say the things you’re asking for are in God’s will, then confidently expect to receive them. If not, how can you change your heart so that your motives are pure?

Lord, you know I have something I asked from you today. Please let me be in, Lord. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Word

The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand.

Psalm 119:130

God’s words are meant to be understood. The words themselves promote understanding, not only of themselves, but of the world, just as light reveals everything visible. One doesn’t need theological training in order to understand God’s words. God communicates so as to be understood. An obedient heart, not theological training, is the prerequisite for understanding God’s Word.

Yank On Dog’s Ears

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Interfering in someone else’s argument
is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears.

Proverbs 26:17

Do you ever find yourself needlessly entering someone else’s argument? That’s as foolish as yanking on a dog’s ears; you know you’ll get bitten. Entering an argument or conflict brings sure results—you’ll get “bitten” by the arguers, who will turn on you. And you will have brought it on yourself needlessly. A question worth pondering: how much trouble do you needlessly bring on yourself?

Ouch. This has certainly got me. I guess there are a countless times that I have yanked on dog’s ears… and yes, to be honest, I have been bitten because of it. But I thank God for reminding me about this verse. It is an eye opener. Thank you, Lord.

You Are an Apple

You are strong, powerful, and even a bit stubborn at times.
You have enough strength to help those around you in trouble. You are adventurous and charming. Many people are drawn to you.
You love life, and you enjoy traveling the world. You enjoy fine food, art, and culture.

People have accused you of being a snob, but that’s not accurate.
You do enjoy the best things in life. Unlike snobs, you truly appreciate quality… not just pretend to.

Today is Good Friday

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Malaysia generally don’t observe Good Friday… let alone Holy Week. But I am sure Christians all over Malaysia are obsrving this special day when Jesus died on the cross to redeem God’s people.

There are different kinds of celebration for Good Friday. Others would re-enact the day Jesus was hanged on the cross. Others would be in silence. Others would wait until Easter Sunday to celebrate

But I cannot help it. I can’t stand the silence. I am rejoicing. I am in worship. I worship Him for who He is. I worship Him for His love and grace and mercy.

And I also pray…  constantly that He change my heart. I want my heart to be right before God. I want to be worthy of Jesus’ death of His resurrection… of His existence. I pray He gets the worship and the glory He deserves.

What is your prayer today?
