Sonshine Playgroup

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

hey schenky, today was your first day ever to join a playgroup. we went there with auntie priscilla and sarah and shem. we were a bit late coz of traffic jam… but it was okay.mommy liked the playgroup so much. i think mommy will have more fun there than you. hehehe.

i like the environment. it’s not structured… compare to gymboree. you’ve been to gymboree but you never joined the group. :( so there’s play time, singing time, and learning life skills time.

mommy also has chitchat time with other mothers. that’s what i like most about it. can share pointers (in raising kids) with other moms. i’m quite surprised coz usually, malaysian mothers (due to tough competition) wouldn’t wanna share their knowledge in what and what not to do in teaching their kids (this is according to Peter). but i think this also goes out to any competitive parents… will only share what they did after they learn that their kids got the edge already. hmmm…. but there, everybody’s sharing everything. i liked it.

you liked it too. in fact, you didn’t wanna go back home even when the play was finished already. you actually cried coz you wanna stay on.

the sad part is… next week we’re not gonna join the playgroup coz we’re going to port dickson for daddy’s conference. but i’ll make sure we’ll go regularly after that.

will take some pix next time.

love yah!

Dear Schenker,

Tonight, I took the language evaluation test for you. Here’s the result:

Your chronological age: 32 months
Your language development age: 33 months

It says your language is at the normal level… one month ahead. Yoy’re doing very well, boy. Mommy is very proud of you.

Tomorrow, we’re going to your first (ever) play group. I am very excited for you. You’ve been in the house the whole time actually… except on Sundays when you attend the Sunday School for toddlers and on Tuesdays when we go to the office for our team devotions and you’d meet Joshua and Janke there.
We’ll see how it goes tomorrow for you.

Also, Daddy and I were surprised yesterday coz we asked you who your best friend was and you said: “My Janke”. Hehehe. Are you claiming ownership already? ;)

Dr. Schenker

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Dear Schenker,

Last night when you’re talking to daddy (I just overheared it)… you said you wanna be a doctor when you grow up. I stopped whatever I was doing and asked you again… making sure I was hearing it right. And once again, you said the same thing. Then I asked you what the doctor does… and you said, to check mommy… hehehe. that was neat… you wanna be a doctor so you can do mommy’s check up.

That means daddy must work harder… and mommy must pray harder. Hahaha. I think praying is more powerful than working hard… what do you think? Hmmm… on the other hand… if you just pray and you don’t do anything.. it’s useless also. So… both are equally important. We work hard and pray hard… and God will surely answer our prayers and make us fruitful in what we do. Maybe, I should say like this instead: Daddy and Mommy will have to work and pray hard… so we can send you to medical school. Voila! I finally made it right.

You actually bumped your face on the table. Had to put something cold on it. But you also hate that. I did a little bit only. When you woke up this morning, I saw a blue-black mark on your face. Sorry boy. I should have taken that stupid box away from you, knowing it’s dangerous to play .. or rather dangerous to use it as a chair. Sometime, I can’t help but let you play with all those things coz you use it for pretend play… like the cover of that box… you said you wanna take a motorbike ride.. and you used it and said: look mommy, this is my motorbike! and the box itself.. you said it’s your chair. Sigh. Anyways… you also lear from this kind of experience. Painful experience though… but sometimes it’s worth it so you’d know.

Okay boy, I hope the mark will go off soon. really feeling sorry for you.

love you!
