Driving

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

One thing I love about going for a holiday in Malaysia  or near my town is that we could just drive to get to it. There are just so many places to visit around the area that we need not have to fly. It’s so convenient for us as a family to drive to where we’re going because we could take as many things as we could, for our convenience.

The last time we drove to our holiday destination was in Cameron Highlands. It sure was great having packed more than enough things. It’s always better to have more than having not enough, right? It would have nicer though if we drove our Volvo so we could go to the Boh Tea plantation to have tea and scones there again. But we traveled in a group so we had to borrow a van.

Talking about travels and cars remind of  finding out more about NC car insurance. Hmmm…

Cameronian Inn

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

We booked a one night stay at Cameronian Inn at Cameron Highlands. It was a budget hotel, perfect for budget traveler (goes without saying). When we looked it up the internet, the rate was 150RM per night. But when hubby called for reservations, thsy said they could give it for 120RM. We were happy.

But we reached the place late… so they have given up the reservation and gave it to somebody else. But they ushered us to a different room, a really budget one, with bathroom being shared with others. But of course, we didn’t mind coz who would wanna linger in a bathroom in a very cool place? And we only paid 60RM!

We enjoyed our stay in Camerons. The houses are beautiful, especially the transient ones. I wonder if the houses in Wilmington NC real estate would be beautiful too? Let’s find out.

We’re on Holiday!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

The kids are on school break for one week. Husband’s training school’s last week this week. So they planned to wrap everything up in Cameron Highlands. We tagged along! It’s fun to be holidaying. I love Cameron Highlands. The temperature is cool… like 10 degrees Celcius. I know it’s not that cold compared to snow places. But I really really love it. Schenker is loving the weather as well. Samantha is loving the goings around.

We are taking th church van with us. Everytime we go places with a group of people, we borrow van from the church.  It’s quite a great ride, having people with us. I love the way to Camerons. The view is just awesome. Glad we didn’t see any accidents while on the road. I would be fearful again. I know there are motorcycle accident attorneys available if there’s an accident. Somehow, it does help when you know where to get one, doesn’t it?

Anyways… would post photos once I get back home. There are just so many nice things to show. I didn’t bring my card reader again. What is it with me? Everytime I travel, I keep forgetting on taking it with me. I should keep a list of things to bring next time. Promise.

It is Fun

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Traveling is fun… especially when you travel in a completely new place or country. If you are observant enough, you’d notice some cultural differences. They are not bad, just different. Just yesterday when we were in the plane and the plane was about to take off, a couple of Cambodians at the back were singing some songs… whatever they were, the songs were definitely Cambodian. They sang sweetly… and if I wasn’t mistaken, they recorded it. Truly enough, they did… which was a bit irritating because they played back the song over and over again. LOL. I didn’t mind listening to them… but to listen to the song is some recording gadget wasn’t fun.

Anyways, you can learn a lot of differences when you travel.

I was looking down on Cambodia when the plane reached the place… and I realized there were not many big buildings around… Our hotel has 7 storeys. And the one I saw yesterday when we were roaming around had probably 10 storeys. There were a couple of hospitals I saw which had probably 2-3 storeys (I wonder whether they have seat lifts in their hospitals too?) and that’s all.

Will need to see more later. I love learning differences… in culture, in food, in environment… any thing new.  It is fun. Will share more later.

GGP Hotel

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

We are now in Cambodia and trying to get our bearings. We are staying at GGP Hotel. It’s a Korean Hotel actually but the concept is like an apartment, just furnished. When I say furnished, it has refrigerator, television, air conditioning unit and water heater. It has some good indoor lighting as well. I am sorry I cannot show you any photos. I am using the hotel’s computer and I didn’t bring my card reader. Oh… the internet usage is also for free. The room is very basic but very clean. Looks like the hotel is fairly new.

We are now preparing to go places. I am excited.
